Reading the LED Display, and What Memory Actually Does
The LED display is the feature that separates the i8 from most heat-not-burn devices, including every IQOS ILUMA. An ILUMA Touch Screen tells you how many uses remain and how far along a preheat is. The i8 display shows you your actual settings.
There are three things on it, and each answers a different question.
Battery level. How many sessions you have left before charging. With a 3200 mAh cell rated at 35 to 40 sessions, this matters most on long days out where you have no charger. There is no pocket charger with this device, so the number on screen is all you have.
Working temperature. Your current setting in the 200 to 300°C range. This is the one people check most, because it confirms the device is where you left it rather than somewhere you did not intend.
Session time. Your current setting between 3 and 6 minutes. Independent of temperature and easy to forget you changed.
The memory function is what makes those readings stable. The device retains your last temperature and session time rather than reverting to a default when it powers off, and it holds them through a full battery discharge and recharge.
That sounds minor and is not. On a device with two adjustable settings, resetting to factory values every time would mean re-dialling before every session, and most people would give up and leave it at the default, which would make the adjustability pointless. Memory is what turns two settings into a genuine personal configuration.
Three practical notes.
If your device is producing a different result from yesterday, check both numbers before assuming anything is wrong. The most common cause of an unexpected session is a setting that got nudged, not a fault.
If you share the device, which is not recommended for hygiene reasons but happens, memory means someone else’s preference is now yours until you change it back.
And if you are comparing TEREA flavours properly, write down the settings you used. Memory holds them, but it does not tell you what they were three weeks ago when you last tried that flavour.

Note specific to this colour: Grey and Black look similar in low light and in photographs. If you are buying to have a device visibly different from a partner’s or colleague’s Black one, Grey is not far enough apart. Green, Red or Gold are.
How to Use It
- Charge fully before first use, about 2.5 hours over USB Type-C.
- Power on. The LED display shows battery level first.
- Set your working temperature, 200 to 300°C.
- Set your session time, 3 to 6 minutes.
- Insert a TEREA stick to the printed filter line.
- Begin heating and wait for the ready indication.
- Use for the set duration. The session ends automatically.
- Remove and dispose of the used stick.

Storage and Care
Under 60°C at all times, which rules out parked cars in UAE summer.
Grey is the most forgiving of the six finishes for daily marks. Fingerprints and skin oil are less visible on it than on Black or Gold, and it does not show dust the way White does.
Brush the chamber roughly every twenty sticks, always when completely cool. Dry microfibre for the exterior. No water, no alcohol, nothing chemical.

Does the display drain the battery?
Negligibly. An LED display of this size uses a tiny fraction of what the heating element draws. Your temperature setting affects battery life far more than the screen does.
Can two people share one i8?
Not advisable, for hygiene reasons. There is also a practical issue: the memory function means whoever changed the settings last has set them for everyone.
