The Session Timer, and Why It Matters More Than People Expect
Temperature gets all the attention on this device. The session timer is the setting that changes your day.
An IQOS ILUMA gives you six minutes or fourteen puffs, fixed. The i8 lets you set anywhere from three to six, and those two ends produce genuinely different results from the same stick.
Three minutes. The stick does not fully exhaust. You get the front portion of its character, which for most TEREA variants is the brightest and most aromatic part, and then the session ends. Useful for a short break, a gap between meetings, or stepping outside in July when standing in Dubai heat for six minutes is not appealing. The trade-off is straightforward: you are using a whole stick for part of its content.
Four to five minutes. The middle, and where most i8 owners settle. Long enough to get through most of a stick’s range, short enough that the flat back end never arrives.
Six minutes. Matches ILUMA session length and extracts the most from each stick. Best value per stick, and the setting to use if cost per session matters to you. At higher temperatures the last minute often tastes thinner, because the stick has already given up most of what it had.
Now the part that connects to the other setting. Session time and temperature are one decision.
A short session at a low temperature under-extracts. You end up with a weak result and a mostly unused stick, which is the worst combination on this device and the most common mistake new owners make.
A long session at a high temperature over-extracts. The first two minutes are strong, the last two are flat, and the average is worse than a moderate setting would have given you.
The pairings that work: short with hot, long with cool. Three minutes at 280°C gives a quick, full session. Six minutes at 230°C gives a long, even one. Both are good. Three minutes at 200°C and six minutes at 300°C are the two combinations to avoid.
Battery matters here too. Shorter sessions draw less per stick, so a habit of three-minute sessions pushes you toward the upper end of the 35 to 40 session rating, sometimes past it.

If a stick tastes flat near the end, the temperature is too high for the session length you set. Lower one or shorten the other.

How to Use It
- Charge fully before the first session, around 2.5 hours over USB Type-C.
- Power on and check battery level on the LED display.
- Set the working temperature, 200 to 300°C.
- Set the session time, 3 to 6 minutes.
- Insert a TEREA stick up to the filter line.
- Start heating and wait for the ready indication.
- Use for the set duration. The device ends the session on its own.
- Remove and dispose of the used stick.

Storage and Care
The 60°C ceiling applies, so parked cars in UAE summer are out.
Deep muted colours hold up well against fingerprints, better than Black and roughly on par with Grey. Dust in the chamber seam shows less on green than on the pale finishes.
Brush the chamber every twenty sticks or so, always once the device is completely cool. Dry cloth for the exterior, never solvents.

What session length should I use?
Four to five minutes suits most people and most TEREA variants. Go to three if you want quick breaks, six if you want maximum value from each stick.
Does a three-minute session waste the stick?
Partly, yes. You are using a whole stick for the front portion of its content. Whether that is a waste depends on whether you actually wanted a six-minute session, and many people do not.
Can I stop a session early?
You can end it, but you cannot save the stick. Once a TEREA stick has been heated it is spent, on this device and on every other Smartcore device. Setting a shorter session time is the correct way to have shorter sessions.
Does session length affect battery life?
Yes, directly. Shorter sessions draw less power per stick, so habitual three-minute use tends to push you above the rated 35 to 40 sessions per charge, while six-minute use sits at or below it.
Why does my stick taste flat near the end?
Usually the temperature is too high for the session length you set. At 290 to 300°C over six minutes the stick gives up most of its character early. Lower the temperature or shorten the session.
Is Green harder to find than the other colours?
It ships in smaller UAE volumes than Black and Grey. It is not rare, but it is not always in stock, so buy it when you see it if this is the finish you want.
Do the settings reset if the battery dies completely?
No. The memory function holds your temperature and session time through a full discharge and recharge.
Can I use SENTIA sticks in it?
Yes. SENTIA uses the same Smartcore construction, so it heats correctly in the i8. HEETS remain the exception, since they have no induction core at all.
