Gold is the statement finish in the Lambda i9 range, a warm metallic that reads as deliberate rather than accidental. It is the colour people notice, which is either the point or the problem depending on who you are.
Inside, it is identical to the other five: Smartcore-compatible induction, OLED display, self-cleaning, 200 to 300°C, 3 to 6 minutes, 3200 mAh.
What Self-Cleaning Actually Does
This is the i9’s headline feature and the one described most vaguely across UAE listings, so here is the plain version.
The problem it solves. Every stick-based device collects small amounts of loose tobacco around the chamber over time, dragged off sticks during insertion and removal. On the Lambda i8 the answer was a supplied brush and a two-minute manual routine every twenty sticks or so. Skip it long enough and the draw tightened, stick fit got snug, and the fix was still the brush, just more overdue.
What the cycle is. The i9 runs a dedicated heating cycle with no stick inserted. The chamber is brought to temperature so that loose residue dries and carbonises rather than sitting as soft material, after which it no longer clings. You let the device cool and tap it out, mouth-down, and the loosened material falls free.
What that replaces. The recurring brush habit. The thing you had to remember, the thing most people forgot, the slow degradation that came from forgetting. The cycle takes the maintenance question from a discipline problem to a button.
What it does not replace. Eyes. The chamber mouth, the rim where sticks enter, still collects the occasional visible flake, and a dry wipe handles it in seconds. And the never-list is unchanged from every heat-not-burn device: no water, no alcohol, no solvents, nothing metal in the chamber, and no cleaning of any kind while the device is warm.
When to run it. Follow the manual’s interval as the baseline. Sensible triggers beyond that: the draw feels tighter than usual, stick insertion feels snug, or you have just finished a run of long high-temperature sessions, which move more material than short cool ones.
Remove any stick before starting. The cycle runs on an empty chamber, never around a stick.
The chamber heats so loose residue dries and carbonises instead of clinging. The body warms too, so stand it up rather than laying it on its face.
No handling, no tapping, no inspection while warm. Several minutes, not several seconds.
The loosened material falls free. A dry wipe of the rim finishes the job in seconds.
One more honest note, since this page is the Gold one. Run the cycle with the device standing on a heat-safe surface, not lying on its gold face. The body warms during cleaning, and warm metal on the wrong surface marks the finish before it marks anything else.
| Task | Status on the i9 |
| The every-20-sticks brush routine | Replaced by the cleaning cycle |
| Remembering to do it | Replaced. Run it when the draw tightens or sticks feel snug |
| Occasional glance at the chamber mouth | Still yours. A visible flake wipes away in seconds |
| The never-list | Unchanged. No water, alcohol, solvents or metal in the chamber, and nothing while warm |
Self-cleaning reduces the habit. It does not abolish the concept.

What Comes in the Box
- 1 x Lambda i9 in Gold
- 1 x USB Type-C cable
- 1 x user manual
- 1 x QC card
Note specific to this colour: the supplied cable is typically white or black depending on batch, and neither matches gold. Any 5V 2A USB Type-C cable works if matching matters to you, and in this colour it tends to.
How to Use It
- Charge fully before first use, approximately 2.5 hours over USB Type-C.
- Power on and check the OLED display.
- Set temperature, 200 to 300°C.
- Set session time, 3 to 6 minutes.
- Insert a TEREA stick to the printed filter line.
- Start heating, wait for the ready signal.
- Use for the set duration. The device stops on its own.
- Remove and dispose of the used stick.
Compatibility
All five TEREA origins we carry work here: UAE, Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Armenia, plus SENTIA and other Smartcore sticks. The full TEREA range has every flavour we stock. HEETS are not compatible.
Storage and Care
Under 60°C always. Parked cars in UAE summer are the main way owners break this rule without meaning to.
Gold finishes wear from the edges in, as on every device that carries one. Corners and the chamber rim lighten first over long ownership, flat faces last. Keys and coins in the same pocket are the fastest way to accelerate that, and a case is worth more on this colour than on Black or Grey.
Dry microfibre for the exterior. Chemical cleaners dull warm metallics unevenly and permanently.
Other Colours
- Black, Green, Grey, Red and Silver
- All six in the Lambda i9 range
- Previous generation: Lambda i8
- The wider Lambda category, including CC and T3
Delivery: Same-day delivery in Dubai, next-day across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I run the self-cleaning cycle?
Use the manual’s interval as your baseline, and run it early if the draw feels tighter than usual or sticks are going in snug. Heavy high-temperature use moves more material and shortens the sensible interval.
Do I run self-cleaning with a stick inside?
Never. The cycle runs on an empty chamber. Remove any stick first, run the cycle, let the device cool, then tip it mouth-down and tap gently.
Does self-cleaning mean I never touch the chamber again?
Almost. The chamber mouth still collects the occasional visible flake, and a dry wipe clears it in seconds. What is gone is the recurring brush routine the i8 needed.
Is the gold real gold?
No. It is a gold-toned finish on the body material, as on every device in this price class. The colour is the statement, not the metal.
Can I run the cleaning cycle right after a session?
Let the device rest first if the manual directs a cool-down, and always let it cool fully before the tap-out step. Handling any device hot is the mistake to avoid, and a gold face on a rough surface while warm is the colour-specific version of it.
Does the cycle use much battery?
It draws meaningfully while running, as any heating does, so run it when you are near a charger rather than at the end of a long day out on the last bar.
Is Gold harder to keep looking new than the other colours?
Harder than Grey or Silver, easier than the i8’s old White was. Fingerprints show on warm metallics, and edge wear arrives first here. Both are managed with a wipe habit and a case.
