A TEREA Pearl stick is a TEREA heated tobacco stick with a small crushable flavour capsule, called the pearl, inside the filter. The stick starts as a tobacco session. When you squeeze the filter, the capsule breaks and releases a second flavour, so one stick gives two tastes. You choose when to click, or you can skip the click and enjoy the stick as plain tobacco. Pearl sticks use the same SMARTCORE induction heating, the same 20-stick packs and approximately the same 0.5 mg of nicotine as other TEREA sticks. They work in IQOS ILUMA, IQOS ILUMA i and Lambda i8, i9 and i10.
What is inside a TEREA Pearl stick
A Pearl stick has three parts that matter to you:
- The tobacco plug, heated from inside by the SMARTCORE induction system. There is no flame and no ash.
- The metal heating element sealed inside the tobacco. This is why TEREA only works in induction devices.
- The flavour capsule in the filter. It holds the second flavour, such as melon, blueberry or menthol.
The capsule does not change the nicotine. It only changes the taste and the cooling.
How to use the capsule, step by step
- Insert the stick into your IQOS ILUMA or Lambda device and start the session as usual.
- Smoke the first puffs without clicking. This is the base tobacco taste.
- When you want the second flavour, squeeze the filter between your fingers until you feel a soft click.
- Carry on with the session. The capsule flavour stays for the rest of the stick.
Use your fingers, not your teeth. Finger pressure breaks the capsule cleanly and keeps the bead in place inside the filter.
When to click: four ways to use one stick
- Click at the start for a full session of the capsule flavour.
- Click halfway for tobacco first and the second flavour after.
- Click near the end for a mostly tobacco session with a fresh finish.
- Do not click for a plain tobacco stick. Many regular Pearl users skip the click on some sessions.
Once the capsule breaks, you cannot undo it. If you are unsure, start with a late click and move earlier on the next stick.

Sun Pearl and Oasis Pearl from Indonesia are different
The Indonesian Sun Pearl and Oasis Pearl use the Pearl name, but the official IQOS Indonesia description talks about a sweet flavoured tip, not a capsule to click. Expect a light sweetness on the lips with each puff instead of a two-stage session.
Which Pearl stick to try first
- First Pearl ever: Sun Pearl Kazakhstan. The tobacco stage is easy, and the melon click is clear and fresh.
- Menthol user: Tidal Pearl. It stays light until you click, then turns very cold.
- Berry fan: Twilight Pearl for blueberry, or Provence Pearl for dark berry with lavender.
- Want something unusual: Starling Pearl, the strawberry and basil stick.
- Prefer a smoother draw: Oasis Pearl or Sun Pearl from Japan.

Keep Pearl packs out of the heat
Heat dries tobacco, and the flavour capsule is even more sensitive to it. In UAE summer, a pack left in a parked car can lose its aroma, and a capsule can soften. Keep packs sealed until you use them, and store them somewhere cool and dry. Our guide on how to store TEREA sticks covers the details.
Common Pearl problems and fixes
- No click when you squeeze: press at a slightly different spot on the filter and squeeze again.
- Weak capsule flavour: the pack may have been stored in heat. Try a stick from a fresh, sealed pack.
- Capsule broke too early: hold the stick by the filter end gently, and keep packs flat, not squeezed, in a pocket.
- Stick does not heat: check the device. TEREA Pearl sticks only heat in SMARTCORE induction devices.
