Description

Gold is the statement finish in the Lambda i8 range. Warm metallic rather than bright yellow, and the colour most likely to be noticed when the device is on a table.

Underneath it is identical to the other five: Smartcore induction, 200 to 300°C adjustable, 3 to 6 minute sessions, 3200 mAh, 83 grams, LED display.

What the Gold Finish Is, and How It Ages

The i8 body is built from three materials, and only one of them carries the gold.

Aluminium alloy forms the main body shell. This is what the gold finish sits on, and it is the part you see and hold.

PPSU is a high-temperature engineering plastic used for structural components near the heating area. It handles repeated heat cycling without deforming, which is why it is there rather than ordinary plastic.

PEEK is used in the highest-heat contact areas. It is one of the more thermally stable polymers available and is common in devices that repeatedly cycle to 300°C.

The gold finish is a surface treatment on the aluminium, not solid material, and that is the fact that matters for ownership. It behaves well through normal use and it is not delicate. But surface treatments wear from the outside in, and they wear unevenly.

It sits on the aluminium alloy and it is not delicate. But surface treatments wear from the outside in, and they wear unevenly. No i8 in any colour uses precious metal, and the price reflects that.

Where it goes first: the edges. Corners and the rim around the chamber opening take the most contact, from fingers, from pockets, from being set down. Over long ownership these lighten before any flat surface does.

Where it goes next: the grip zone. Wherever your thumb rests during a session. Skin oil plus repeated contact polishes that area slightly differently from the rest.

Where it does not go: flat panels. The large faces of the device are contacted least and hold their finish longest, which is why a well-used gold i8 often looks new from straight on and worn from the edges.

None of this affects how the device works. Aluminium under the finish is structurally unchanged, and the heating chamber is a separate assembly entirely. It is a cosmetic timeline, and it is slow, but a gold device shows its age in a way a black one does not.

Two practical consequences. A sleeve or case is worth more on this colour than on Black or Grey, because you are protecting a finish rather than just a surface. And fingerprints show on warm metallics more than on cool ones, so expect to wipe it more often than a Grey owner does.

What Comes in the Box

  • 1 x Lambda i8 in Gold
  • 1 x cleaning brush
  • 1 x USB Type-C cable
  • 1 x user manual
  • 1 x QC card

Note specific to this colour: when brushing the chamber, work gently around the rim. Metal tools or heavy pressure at the chamber opening will mark a gold surface treatment faster than they would mark anodised black, and the rim is exactly where the finish is thinnest already.

How to Use It

  1. Charge fully before first use, approximately 2.5 hours over USB Type-C.
  2. Power on and read the battery level from the LED display.
  3. Choose a working temperature between 200 and 300°C.
  4. Choose a session length between 3 and 6 minutes.
  5. Insert a TEREA stick to the printed filter line.
  6. Start heating and wait for the ready signal.
  7. Use for the set duration. The device ends the session automatically.
  8. Remove the spent stick and dispose of it.

Compatibility

All five TEREA origins we carry work here: UAE, Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Armenia. Browse the complete TEREA range for flavour profiles.

SENTIA and other Smartcore sticks are also compatible. HEETS are not.

Storage and Care

Never above 60°C, so never in a parked car in UAE summer. This applies to every colour, but heat also accelerates surface finish ageing, which gives gold owners a second reason to care.

Clean with a dry microfibre cloth only. Chemical cleaners attack surface treatments faster than they attack anodised aluminium, and on gold the damage shows as dull patches that cannot be restored.

Keep it away from keys and coins in a pocket or bag. Point contact from hard metal is the single fastest way to mark this finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Lambda i8 Gold actually gold?

No. It is a gold-toned surface finish applied to an aluminium alloy body. No i8 in any colour uses precious metal, and the price reflects that.

Will the gold wear off?

Slowly, and at the edges first. Corners, the chamber rim and the area your thumb rests on lighten before flat panels do. It takes long ownership to become noticeable and it does not affect performance at all.

Does gold get hotter than the other colours?

No meaningful difference. The heat you feel comes from the chamber and the internal components, not from solar absorption in normal use. Colour matters far more for a device left in the sun than for one in your hand.

What are PPSU and PEEK, and why are they in the device?

Both are high-temperature engineering plastics. They sit in the areas that cycle to 300°C repeatedly, where ordinary plastic would deform. Their presence is a sign of where the device puts its material budget.

Should I buy a case for it?

More than for the darker colours, yes. You are protecting a surface treatment rather than just avoiding scratches, and gold is the finish where wear shows earliest.

Does it show fingerprints?

More than Grey, less than a gloss finish would. Warm metallics pick up skin oil visibly. A microfibre wipe every couple of days handles it.

Is Gold harder to resell?

It narrows the buyer pool slightly, since more people default to Black. It does not lower the price, because the people who want gold want it specifically.

Can I clean the chamber with a metal pick instead of the brush?

No. Metal in the heating chamber risks damaging the induction assembly, and around the rim it will mark the finish immediately. Use the supplied brush and nothing harder.
