Description

Black is the most-bought finish in the Lambda i8 range and the one most first-time i8 owners end up holding. Matte-leaning, neutral, and the least likely to draw attention on a table.

Same device as every other colour: Smartcore induction heating, 200 to 300°C adjustable, 3 to 6 minute adjustable sessions, 3200 mAh battery, LED display, 83 grams.

What the Temperature Dial Actually Does

This is the setting people buy the i8 for and the one nobody explains. Here is what changes as you move across the range with a TEREA stick.

Around 200 to 230°C. Light and cool. The draw is thin, the flavour is subtle, and the tobacco character sits in the background rather than the front. Menthol and fresh variants stay crisp here because the menthol does not get overwhelmed by tobacco warmth. The stick feels like it lasts longer even at the same session length, because less is released per puff. Best suited to long, slow sessions and to anyone who found ILUMA sessions slightly too strong.

Around 240 to 270°C. The middle, and the closest thing to an ILUMA-like result. Balanced tobacco character with the aromatic notes still readable. If you are switching over from an ILUMA i and want to start from something familiar before experimenting, start here rather than at either extreme.

Around 280 to 300°C. Full and warm. Tobacco depth comes forward, the draw thickens noticeably, and everything arrives faster. The trade-off is that a stick gives up most of its character in the first half of the session, so the back end feels flatter. Menthol variants can taste muted here because the warmth dominates the cooling. Best for short sessions rather than six-minute ones.

Two things worth knowing that the specification sheet does not tell you.

🌡 What the Temperature Dial Does to a TEREA Stick

200 to 230°C  ·  light and cool

Thin draw, subtle flavour, tobacco character sitting in the background. Menthol and fresh variants stay crisp here because the cooling is not overwhelmed by warmth. The stick feels like it lasts longer at the same session length. Suits long slow sessions.

240 to 270°C  ·  the ILUMA-like middle

Balanced tobacco character with aromatic notes still readable. If you are coming from an IQOS ILUMA and want a familiar starting point before experimenting, start here rather than at either end.

280 to 300°C  ·  full and warm

Tobacco depth comes forward and the draw thickens. Everything arrives faster, so the stick gives up most of its character in the first half and the back end feels flatter. Menthol can taste muted. Best paired with short sessions.

Higher settings also pull more from the 3200 mAh battery, so the rated 35 to 40 sessions assumes you are not living at the top of the range.

Higher settings pull more from the 3200 mAh battery, so the rated 35 to 40 sessions per charge assumes you are not sitting at the top of the range. Consistent 300°C use lands you at the bottom of that band or under it.

And temperature interacts with session length rather than working independently of it. A high temperature over a long session exhausts the stick early. A low temperature over a short session may not extract much at all. The two settings are one decision, not two.

Your First Week With the i8

Do not change everything at once. You will not learn anything from it.

Start at 250°C and six minutes for the first few sticks, using a TEREA flavour you already know well from an IQOS device. That gives you a baseline you can actually compare against.

Then move temperature only, in steps of about 20°C, keeping the time fixed. Once you know where you like the heat, adjust the session length. The memory function holds whatever you settle on, so you only do this once.

📅 Setting the i8 Up in Your First Week
Change one thing at a time. You learn nothing from changing both.
1 Start at 250°C, six minutes

Use a TEREA flavour you already know well from an IQOS device. This gives you a baseline you can actually compare against.

2 Move temperature only, in 20°C steps

Keep the session time fixed at six minutes while you do this. Two or three sticks at each step is enough to tell.

3 Then adjust session length

Once the heat is where you want it, shorten or keep the time. Short pairs with hot, long pairs with cool.

4 Leave it alone

The memory function holds whatever you settle on, through power cycles and through a full discharge. This is a one-time setup, not a daily task.

What Comes in the Box

  • 1 x Lambda i8 in Black
  • 1 x cleaning brush
  • 1 x USB Type-C cable
  • 1 x user manual
  • 1 x QC card

Note specific to this colour: the black finish shows brush marks and cleaning residue around the chamber mouth more visibly than the lighter colours. Wipe the rim after brushing rather than leaving loose flakes on a dark surface where they are obvious.

How to Use It

  1. Charge fully before first use, roughly 2.5 hours over USB Type-C.
  2. Power on and check the battery level on the LED display.
  3. Set your working temperature between 200 and 300°C.
  4. Set session time between 3 and 6 minutes.
  5. Insert a TEREA stick up to the line printed on the filter.
  6. Begin heating and wait for the ready indication.
  7. Use for the session length you set. The device stops on its own.
  8. Remove and dispose of the used stick. Never reinsert one.

Compatibility

Runs every TEREA SMARTCORE STICK we stock: UAE, Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Armenia. SENTIA and other Smartcore sticks also work.

HEETS do not work in this device, whatever some UAE listings claim.

Storage and Care

Keep it under 60°C, which means never in a parked car during a UAE summer.

Black anodised surfaces hide light scuffs well but show dust, lint and skin oil clearly. A dry microfibre wipe handles it. Avoid alcohol and solvents, which dull dark finishes unevenly and leave a patchy result that is worse than what you started with.

Brush the chamber every twenty sticks or so, once the device is completely cool.

Other Colours

Delivery: Same-day delivery in Dubai, next-day across Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What temperature should I start at?

250°C with a six-minute session, using a TEREA flavour you already know. That gives you a result close to what an ILUMA produces, so you have something to compare against before you start experimenting.

Does a higher temperature give more flavour?

More intensity, not necessarily more flavour. Above about 280°C the tobacco warmth dominates and finer aromatic notes get harder to pick out. Menthol variants in particular often taste better lower in the range.

Will running it hot damage the device?

No. 300°C is within the designed operating range. What it does affect is battery life per charge and how quickly a stick is exhausted within a session.

Does temperature change how many puffs I get?

Indirectly. The i8 works on a time limit rather than a puff count, so a hotter setting means each puff delivers more and the stick gives up its character sooner within that time.

Is Black harder to tell apart from someone else’s i8?

Yes, it is the most-bought colour, so at a gathering it is the one likely to be duplicated. Grey looks similar at a glance too. If that matters, Red or Gold solves it outright.

Do I need to reset the temperature every time?

No. The memory function keeps your last temperature and session time, so you set it once and the device holds it through power cycles.

Does the black finish scratch easily?

It scratches at the same rate as the other finishes. The difference is that a deep scratch exposes lighter metal underneath and stands out sharply against black, while light surface marks are actually less visible than on White or Gold.

Can I use it while charging?

Better not to. Running a session while drawing 5V 2A into a 3200 mAh cell puts heat into the device from two directions at once, and in UAE ambient temperatures that is worth avoiding.
