Description

Yugen is the aromatic half of Indonesia’s Dimensions line, and it’s built from three things you don’t normally find in a tobacco stick: pear, lavender, and jasmine tea.

Officially it’s original tobacco with fruity and floral aromas enriched by a fresh sensation. In practice, the tobacco base is more prominent here than in Apricity, and the floral layer sits on top of it rather than inside it. The result is clean, uplifting, and unlike anything else in the Indonesian collection.

Crafted by Philip Morris International (PMI) for the SMARTCORE Induction System. Heat-not-burn, smoke-free, no ash.

Decoding the Three Notes

Most listings say “floral and fruity” and stop. That tells you nothing about whether you’ll like it, because floral covers everything from soap to jasmine. Here’s what each of the three actually contributes and how to find it in a session.

🎼 The Three Notes, Separated
🍐 Pear — the sweetener that isn’t sweet

Pear is a low-acid, low-sugar fruit note, so it adds roundness without the candied edge that berry or tropical aromas bring. Where to find it: the first three or four puffs, before the florals build.

💜 Lavender — the one people fear and then like

Lavender in food and drink is usually overdone. Here it’s restrained and herbal rather than perfumed, closer to the dried herb than to soap. Where to find it: mid-session, and mostly on the exhale rather than the draw.

🍵 Jasmine tea — the part doing the real work

Jasmine tea is floral and slightly astringent, which is why this stick doesn’t turn cloying. The tea note cuts the sweetness and links the florals back to the tobacco. Where to find it: the finish, and in the freshness that runs underneath everything.

Why the combination works

Pear is soft, lavender is aromatic, jasmine tea is dry. Take away the tea and you’d have a perfumed, sweet stick that most tobacco users would reject. The astringency is the structural piece, and it’s the one nobody mentions.

If you’ve read that lavender puts you off, try it before deciding. The most common reaction from sceptical users is surprise at how little it resembles what they expected.

Yugen or Apricity?

The two Dimensions sticks are built as opposites.

If you want tobacco you can still taste under the aromatics, that’s Yugen. If you want the aromatics to lead, that’s Apricity.

Who Should Buy It

  • Tobacco users curious about aromatics. Yugen keeps a real tobacco undertone, which makes it a safer experiment than most flavoured sticks.
  • Daytime and social smokers. The fresh, uplifting character suits afternoons and gatherings better than a heavy stick.
  • Anyone bored of berry and menthol. Almost every flavoured stick on the market goes one of those two ways. This goes neither.
  • Slow, attentive smokers. The three notes arrive at different points, and the stick genuinely rewards paying attention.

Reconsider if you want something straightforward, where the classic tobacco pair is simpler, or cooling of any kind, which the Indonesian menthols cover.

How to Use It

  1. Insert the stick into your IQOS ILUMA or Lambda holder, coloured end up, without twisting.
  2. Wait for the ready vibration before the first draw.
  3. Take slow, mindful draws with gaps between them, and exhale gently through the nose on a few. The lavender in particular is an exhale note, not a tongue note.
  4. Bin the stick after up to 14 puffs or roughly 6 minutes.

Start a Yugen session on a clean palate. Coming off coffee or a strong tobacco stick, the delicate florals get buried and the stick reads as ordinary.

Floral aromatics degrade faster in heat than any other flavour type, which makes Yugen the most storage-sensitive stick in the Indonesian range. Keep packs sealed and cool, never in a parked car. See the storage guide.

30 Days on Yugen

💜 30-Day Log — TEREA Dimensions Yugen Indonesia

Days 1–7: The lavender was the worry and turned out not to be a problem. It’s herbal and restrained, nothing like the perfumed lavender in food. The pear lands first and is easy to miss if you draw fast.

Days 8–15: Identified the jasmine tea as the piece holding it together. There’s a dry, slightly astringent quality on the finish that stops the whole thing from turning sweet.

Days 16–23: Ran it against Apricity daily. Yugen has the stronger tobacco presence of the two, which surprised us given how delicate it reads overall.

Days 24–30: Verdict: the most unusual stick we’ve tested from any origin, and the one that most rewards slowing down. A poor choice if you smoke in a hurry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does TEREA Dimensions Yugen taste like?

Original tobacco with fruity and floral aromas over a fresh sensation. The three notes users identify most are pear, lavender, and jasmine tea, arriving at different points across the session.

Does the lavender taste like perfume?

No. It’s restrained and herbal rather than perfumed, closer to the dried herb than to scented products. Users who expect a soapy floral note are usually surprised by how subtle it is.

Yugen or Apricity?

Yugen is fresh, floral, and keeps a more prominent tobacco undertone, with a delicate finish that suits daytime use. Apricity is warm, creamy, and sweeter, with a longer aftertaste better suited to evenings.

Is Yugen good for beginners?

Yes, though for a different reason than usual. It’s gentle enough to be approachable while being layered enough to stay interesting, which makes it a good introduction to aromatic tobacco rather than a plain starting point.

Does it contain menthol?

No. There’s a fresh sensation in the blend, but it comes from the aromatic profile rather than from cooling agents. For actual menthol, the Indonesian range offers Blue, Green, Black Green, Bright Wave, and Purple Wave.

How much nicotine is in each stick?

Approximately 0.5 mg, the same across every TEREA flavour and origin.
