Grey is the most forgiving finish in the Lambda i9 range. Cooler and lighter than Black, better than every other colour at hiding fingerprints and pocket wear, and the choice of people who want the device to disappear into the day.
Internally identical to the rest: Smartcore-compatible induction, OLED display, self-cleaning, 200 to 300°C, 3 to 6 minutes, 3200 mAh battery.
One Battery, One Day: Planning Around a Single-Piece Device
The i9 has no pocket charger. This is the design fact that shapes ownership more than any specification, and it deserves more attention than listings give it.
An IQOS ILUMA i Standard owner carries a charger with the device: the Holder runs out, the Pocket Charger refills it, and the practical ceiling is the charger’s capacity. An i9 owner carries one battery. When it is done, the day’s sessions are done until a cable appears. The 3200 mAh cell and its rating of up to 40 sessions exist to make that a non-problem, and mostly they succeed, but “up to” is doing work in that sentence and it pays to know what moves the real number.
What the rating assumes. Moderate settings. The mid-range of temperature, ordinary session lengths, normal climate. Run there and the battery genuinely covers multiple days for most users.
What pulls it down. Three things, in order of effect. Sustained high temperature: sessions at 290 to 300°C draw meaningfully more per stick than sessions at 230°C, and a habit of hot sessions lands you at the bottom of the rating or under it. Long sessions: six minutes consumes more than four, stick after stick. And heat itself: a battery that spends its day at UAE ambient outdoor temperatures delivers a little less than the same battery indoors, which is normal lithium-ion behaviour rather than a fault.
What the maths looks like. A pack of TEREA is 20 sticks. At moderate settings the i9 covers a pack and most of a second on one charge. A heavy day out, a desert drive, a long shift, sits comfortably inside one charge unless you are running hot and long together, which is the one combination worth planning around.
Bars show relative sessions per charge, not measurements. UAE ambient heat trims a little more off any row, which is normal lithium-ion behaviour rather than a fault.
The habits that make it a non-issue. Charge overnight, the way you do a phone, rather than reactively. Glance at the battery reading on the OLED display when you leave in the morning, the same glance that checks your settings. And on genuinely long days, remember the input is 5V 2A over USB Type-C, which means every phone charger, car socket adaptor and power bank you already own is also an i9 charger. The device has no pocket charger; the UAE is nonetheless full of things that charge it.
The self-cleaning footnote. The cleaning cycle heats the chamber, so it draws real battery. Run it at home near a cable, not at the end of a long day on the last bar.
| At home Any phone charger meeting 5V 2A. Overnight habit, question closed. | In the car Any USB car adaptor at the same rating. Charge while driving, never while parked in the heat. | Out all day A small power bank with a Type-C output turns the single-battery design into a non-issue. |
The self-cleaning cycle heats the chamber, so it draws real battery. Run it at home near a cable, not at the end of a long day on the last bar.

What Comes in the Box
- 1 x Lambda i9 in Grey
- 1 x USB Type-C cable
- 1 x user manual
- 1 x QC card
Note specific to this colour: Grey and Black i9s look close in dim light. If someone in your circle runs a Black one, know which is which before they end up on the same table, because unlike Red or Gold owners, you will not be able to tell at a glance.
How to Use It
- Charge fully before first use, about 2.5 hours over USB Type-C.
- Power on. Check battery and settings on the OLED display.
- Set the working temperature, 200 to 300°C.
- Set the session time, 3 to 6 minutes.
- Insert a TEREA stick to the printed filter line.
- Start heating and wait for the ready indication.
- Use for the set duration. The device ends the session.
- Remove and dispose of the used stick.
Compatibility
All five TEREA origins we carry: UAE, Japan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Armenia. The TEREA range has the full list. SENTIA and Smartcore sticks work; HEETS do not.
Storage and Care
The 60°C ceiling is a battery rule before it is a finish rule, and on a single-battery device it is the whole ballgame. A parked car in Dubai summer takes capacity off this device permanently, and capacity is the one thing an i9 cannot borrow from a pocket charger.
Grey asks the least of any finish day to day. Dry microfibre when it needs it, which is less often than any other colour here.
Self-cleaning per the manual, chamber mouth glance occasionally, nothing liquid or metal near the chamber ever.
