ILUMA Standard is the classic two-piece device in the IQOS ILUMA range a slim pen-style Holder plus a Pocket Charger, in the familiar format IQOS users have carried for years, rebuilt around bladeless heating.
It runs Philip Morris International’s SMARTCORE Induction System: an induction coil activates the metal heating element sealed inside each TEREA stick, heating tobacco from within instead of burning it. No blade, no residue, no cleaning. It also has Autostart — insert a stick and heating begins on its own.
Six colourways: Pebble Gray, Pebble Beige, Azure Blue, Moss Green, Sunset Red, and the Neon limited edition.
The Part Nobody Tells You: The Holder Is the Same
One of the biggest differences people expect between the IQOS ILUMA Standard and IQOS ILUMA PRIME simply doesn’t exist. The component that heats the tobacco and comes into direct contact with the user the Holder uses the same C1402 model in both devices.
Because both models share the same Holder, they also deliver the same SMARTCORE™ induction heating technology, the same heating temperature, and the same overall tobacco experience. The differences between the two devices are primarily found in the Pocket Charger, materials, and design rather than performance.

What This Means
The tobacco experience is effectively the same on both devices. Since the Holder, heating system, temperature, and session performance are identical, users can expect the same heating quality and flavour delivery. The additional cost of the IQOS ILUMA PRIME is mainly for its premium Pocket Charger materials, sliding wrap design, and expanded personalization options.
A Detail Many Buyers Overlook
The IQOS ILUMA Standard weighs approximately 24 grams less than the PRIME model. Its lighter moulded-body construction makes it easier to carry in a pocket, while the PRIME’s aluminium body and decorative wrap provide a more premium look and feel at the expense of additional weight.
Careful: The Colour Names Are Shared With ILUMA One
Pebble Gray, Pebble Beige, Azure Blue, Moss Green, and Sunset Red all exist on both ILUMA Standard and ILUMA One. They’re completely different devices.

How It Works
Charge the Pocket Charger fully before first use — around 2 hours 15 minutes over USB-C. Slide the Holder into the charger to top it up between sessions; a single Holder charge takes roughly two minutes.
Insert a TEREA stick into the Holder up to the line on the filter, without twisting. Autostart begins heating on its own, and the device is ready in around 15 seconds. The session runs up to 6 minutes or 14 puffs, with a vibration signalling the end approaching.
After two consecutive sessions the Holder returns to the Pocket Charger. The charger itself handles around 20 sessions before it needs plugging in.

Why There’s No Cleaning
Every IQOS generation before ILUMA used a physical heating blade inserted into the stick. Residue accumulated on it, cleaning was a routine, and the blade was the most fragile part of the device.
ILUMA has no blade. The induction coil sits in the Holder and the metal heating element sits inside the TEREA stick, leaving with it when binned. Nothing accumulates internally, so there are no cleaning sticks, no brushes, and no maintenance cycle — just an occasional wipe of the exterior.
