ILUMA One is the compact, one-piece member of the IQOS ILUMA range — Holder and charger combined into a single device that fits in any pocket. No separate Pocket Charger, no two-part routine, nothing to keep track of.
It’s built by Philip Morris International around the same SMARTCORE Induction System as every other ILUMA device. An induction coil inside the device activates the metal heating element sealed within each TEREA stick, heating tobacco from within rather than burning it. No blade means no residue and no cleaning, ever.
Five colourways: Azure Blue, Moss Green, Pebble Beige, Pebble Grey, and Sunset Red.
The Advantage Nobody Expects From the Smallest Model
Although the IQOS ILUMA One is the most affordable model in the ILUMA lineup, it offers one practical advantage that many users don’t expect. Unlike the two-piece ILUMA devices, it is designed to deliver continuous sessions without requiring the holder to recharge between uses.

Why ILUMA One Performs Differently
The ILUMA Standard and ILUMA PRIME use a two-piece design consisting of a Holder and a Pocket Charger. After two consecutive sessions, the Holder must be returned to the charger before it can be used again.
ILUMA One uses a single integrated battery instead of a separate Holder and Pocket Charger. Because of this design, it can continue delivering sessions without interruption until the battery is depleted, providing up to 20 consecutive uses on a full charge.
Who Benefits Most?
This advantage is especially useful for users who enjoy multiple sessions in a row, whether during long evenings, social gatherings, road trips, or other occasions where waiting for a Holder to recharge would be inconvenient.
Another benefit is charging speed. The ILUMA One reaches a full charge in approximately 90 minutes, while the two-piece ILUMA Standard and ILUMA PRIME models typically require around 2 hours and 15 minutes for a complete charge.
What You Give Up
Being honest about the trade-off is more useful than pretending there isn’t one.
- No auto-start on the original ILUMA One. You press the button for one second to begin heating rather than the device starting on stick insertion. The ILUMA i series adds Autostart; this model doesn’t have it.
- No premium materials or personalisation. No anodised aluminium body, no Ring Sets, no Wraps. Silicone and fabric sleeves are available for protection, but the customisation system belongs to PRIME.
- Simpler chipset. Fewer features overall, which is part of why it’s smaller and cheaper.
What you don’t give up is the experience itself. Heating temperature, session length, and stick compatibility are identical across the whole ILUMA family.

How to Use It
- Charge fully before first use — around 90 minutes over USB-C. The indicator lights show charging progress and stay solid when complete.
- Press and hold the button for 4 seconds to turn the device on.
- Slide the cap open and insert a TEREA stick up to the line on the filter. Don’t twist it.
- Press the button for one second to start heating. The device is ready after around 20 seconds.
- Draw normally for up to 6 minutes or 14 puffs. The device vibrates once near the end of the session.
- Remove and bin the used stick. Nothing needs cleaning.
Checking the battery: briefly tap the button. Four lights means at least 75% charge; a single light means below 25%. A flashing yellow or orange light means it needs charging.
If the battery is severely depleted, it can take up to 20 minutes before the first LED responds and the device becomes usable. That’s normal rather than a fault.

Why There’s Nothing to Clean
This is the practical break from every IQOS generation before ILUMA, and it’s worth stating clearly.
Blade-based devices heated the stick from the outside with a physical blade, which accumulated tobacco residue and needed regular cleaning. It was also the most fragile component in the device.
ILUMA One has no blade. The induction coil sits in the device and the metal heating element sits inside the TEREA stick, leaving with it when you bin it. No residue accumulates internally, which means no cleaning sticks, no swabs, and fewer mechanical parts to fail. An occasional wipe of the exterior is the whole maintenance routine.

How many sticks can I use before recharging?
Up to 20 consecutive uses from a full charge. Unlike the two-piece ILUMA models, which need the Holder returned to the Pocket Charger after two sessions, ILUMA One keeps going without pauses.
How long does it take to charge?
Around 90 minutes for a full charge over USB-C, which is noticeably quicker than the roughly 2 hours 15 minutes the two-piece models need.
Does ILUMA One start automatically when I insert a stick?
No. On the original ILUMA One you press the button for one second to start heating. Autostart is a feature of the ILUMA i series rather than this model.
Does it need cleaning?
No. There’s no heating blade, so no residue accumulates inside. The metal heating element sits within each TEREA stick and is discarded with it. Wiping the exterior occasionally is all that’s needed.
Which sticks work with it?
TEREA sticks only, from any origin. HEETS and other non-SMARTCORE sticks aren’t compatible, and using TEREA in an older blade-based IQOS device can damage it.
Is it good for travel?
Yes. It’s the smallest and lightest device in the ILUMA range at 121.6 x 30.6 x 16.4 mm, charges over standard USB-C, and the one-piece design means nothing to keep track of. Use on board flights isn’t permitted, and local regulations vary by destination.
Which colour should I choose?
Functionally they’re identical, so it’s purely appearance. Pebble Grey and Pebble Beige are the most neutral, Azure Blue and Moss Green sit in the middle, and Sunset Red is the boldest.
